Foam (Dressopotamia Giveaway!)

Seriously, though, Foam is a gorgeous little frock.

I think it must have been handmade, because all the little stitches in it look as though they were sewn by a real person with tiny, graceful hands, and there's no label.

But whoever it was really knew her stuff, because Foam is so elegantly fitted and cut.

How fitted is it?

Let's just say that the left shoulder opens up hook-and-eye style for a reason.

The sash is also a lovely addition — the fabric is a rather heavy satin, so it really feels substantial between your fingers.

So, why am I finding it a new home? Quite simply, I've had it for at least seven years, and I've worn it twice: once to see my grandpa in a play, and once to be the maid of honor in my sister's wedding.

Her colors matched Foam so exactly that when I held an invitation up against it, the card disappeared. So it was a no-brainer. There was a heart-stopping moment the day before the wedding, when Foam refused to zip up (I would say the measurements are about 36-30-40, with wiggle room for the hips but not the bust), but after a day of fretting, Foam finally got over the cold feet and consented to be in the ceremony.

Despite my affection for the cut, the color and the fabric, Foam just doesn't call out to me as often as the other dresses in my closet do. It's a little formal for my needs, and minimalist for my tastes.

Who will give Foam the classy social life it so richly deserves? Maybe you! Let me know in the comments, or wherever.
